Here at Out in the Bay our primary goal is to provide an avenue of support for people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGB&T) in the Lancaster and Morecambe Bay area. Despite recent advances in furthering the rights of LGB&T people, the realities of their lives remain poorly understood by many sectors of society who may discriminate against them as a result. This can intersect with other factors such as race, gender and class to further compound the isolation they may feel, particularly in the wider Lancashire area where access to crucial services and social contact can vary widely depending on where one lives.

We aim to change that by offering a combination of regular drop-in sessions for LGB&T people in general, peer-led support groups for those suffering from long-term health conditions including Hepatitis C and HIV, and providing a venue for volunteer-led social groups dedicated to specific elements of the LGB&T community and the issues that they face, such as our Transmen and Transwomen groups.
